ClearEdge 3D EdgeWise is CAD software that allows you to create an intelligent 3D model from 3D point clouds from terrestrial laser scanners or mobile scanners (e.g. survey data). The software allows you to generate pipework and walls fully automatically and structure them in a database. Furthermore, steel construction elements and air ducts can be modelled very easily, and valves and flanges can be inserted.
The generated media can be assigned to the various standardization classes. If you have individual libraries, these can be imported via a CSV interface.

ClearEdge 3D offers you the option of importing 3D point clouds from almost all known manufacturers. The intelligent algorithm automatically examines the structures and geometries and recognizes them. All geometries found then automatically become intelligent objects and can be assigned to their respective classes. For example, EdgeWise recognizes steel beams, pipes or other surfaces fully automatically. Thanks to an integrated check function, you have the option of correcting and adjusting the objects found afterwards.
Workflow
- Import your 3D point cloud data.
- Make all the necessary settings for the database and the automatic detection of pipes, surfaces and floors.
- Result of the automatic calculation.
- You can remove faulty pipes in the following step.
- You then have the option of connecting pipes automatically.
- Now you can have pipes cleaned up automatically.
- After the automatic cleanup, you now have the option of entering additional pipes manually.
- You can then check the parameters for all pipes.
- Export the data.
After editing in EdgeWise, you have the option of transferring your project to a variety of different CAD projects. The plug-in for Autodesk Plant 3D facilitates the transfer to your CAD system. Thanks to the EdgeWise geometries, the data can also be transferred to Autodesk Revit, AutoCad, Microstatio and many other CAD products, for example.
