Title
Detailed scans with high resolution

Wysiwyg text

The Artec Spider II opens up completely new possibilities. This high-precision 3D scanner has been specially developed to capture complex structures, sharp edges and the finest details with impressive accuracy. The captured data is of the highest quality, while the realistic 3D models impress with their exact geometry and impressive colour fidelity.

Thanks to the high scanning speed and the absence of target marks, the scanning process is particularly simple and intuitive - every detail is captured.

Title
Capture objects with high accuracy

First column

Scanning people, animals, machine parts, art objects and more

The Spider II 3D scanner is a hand-held scanner that is mobile and flexible to use thanks to its lightweight design. Its use is as uncomplicated as that of a video camera. Only the result is three-dimensional instead of two-dimensional as in the video. Without the aid of reference marks, the Artec Studio software can align the scans of the Artec Spider II in real time, so that the scans can then be processed particularly quickly and without great effort.

The high quality of the colour scans enables the scanner to be used in the medical sector and many other areas where scanning accuracy depends on fractions of a millimetre. The optical scanning process can be used on people, animals and objects of all kinds without hesitation. Unlike some laser scanners, no special protective measures are required.

Title
Convenient scanning

First column

Scanning without targets

The Artec Spider II enables scanning without the use of targets – simply and precisely. This saves time and completely eliminates the additional effort and resources required to apply targets. Set-up time is reduced while the scanner continues to efficiently deliver outstanding results.

Thanks to the contactless scanning technology, the environment remains untouched. This is particularly beneficial for medical areas, forensic scenes and other applications where target marking is not possible.

Second column

Fast scans

The extended field of view of 171×152mm reduces the risk of human error and enables more efficient capture. With a scanning speed of 30 FPS, capture is intuitive and natural. Thanks to its low weight of just 950 grams and mark-free technology, the Spider II is easy to transport and flexible to use.

Title
Powerful and versatile

Second column

Precise scanning for a wide variety of objects
Thanks to the high level of detail, both small and medium-sized objects – from coins to car engines – can be precisely digitised. Even challenging surfaces such as glossy or black materials are captured reliably.

Capturing complex geometries
Deep holes, sharp edges and fine structures are converted into digital data with high precision. The fast temperature stabilisation ensures consistently accurate results, regardless of the ambient conditions.

Flexibility and safety
The Spider II is fully compatible with other Artec scanners and integrates seamlessly into existing workflows. Non-contact scanning is gentle on objects and safe for use in medical, forensic and technical environments.

Title
Artec Spider (1st generation) & Space Spider are no longer available

First column

Note: The Artec Spider II represents the newer generation of Spider scanners. The Artec Spider and Artec Spider of the 1st generation are no longer available as new devices; however, the Spider of the 1st generation can still be rented from us. The Artec Spider II with its newer technology is available for sale.

Title
Application areas of the Artec Spider II

Wysiwyg text

The Artec Spider II has been designed for detailed scans.

The Artec Spider II achieves high-quality scanning results in all areas of application. The high scanning accuracy and resolution allow it to be used for even the smallest and most detailed objects. In healthcare, product design and quality control, the Artec Spider II is ideal for digitally capturing body parts, bones or product parts with high precision, for example. Small objects in particular can be scanned in detail and high resolution with the Artec Spider II.

Title
Overview of the areas of application

First column
  • Manufacturing and industrial design (e.g. reverse engineering, product design, quality control)
  • Healthcare (e.g. prosthesis creation, hand and foot impressions)
  • Science and education (e.g. reproduction of bone parts and natural history objects)
  • Art and design (e.g. restoration, additions and models of art objects)

Images with high detail density

Thanks to its great ease of use, high speed and precision, numerous industrial applications can benefit from using the scanner.

Mechanical engineering elements such as motors, gears and even screws can be scanned by the Artec Spider II with the utmost precision and detail density – without the use of registration marks. The Artec Studio scanning software provides you with realistic and detailed images of your objects.

Title
Healthcare

First column

Precise documentation for health

With the Artec Spider II, you can scan impressions of hands and feet or even entire body parts in no time at all. The software displays the captured data as a model as soon as a scan or scan section is completed.

Best of all, you don't need to take any special safety precautions to scan limbs and other body parts. The Artec Spider II is an optical scanner that converts images into computer graphics. This means that neither magnetic nor laser radiation is involved, eliminating any health risks.

Areas of application:

  • Fitting of medical devices
  • Prosthetics
  • Scans of skin surfaces

Assistance in history and research

Both models of machine parts and reproductions of natural history objects such as shells, fossils and skulls can be created with the Artec Spider II 3D scanner. This means that particularly rare specimens can be reproduced for museums, for example.

Objects consisting of several fragments can also be scanned, as is often the case with skulls and other bones in archaeological collections. These parts can be reassembled on the computer using the Artec Studio software.

Areas of application:

  • Product reproduction
  • Natural history
  • Archaeology

Title

First column

Reproducing rare and sensitive objects

Due to the high level of detail in scanning, the Artec Spider II can be used in areas where other scanners cannot operate. Scanning with the Artec Spider II can also provide the basis for making detailed copies of objects. Once exact reproductions have been made, objects can be preserved, replicated and researched for posterity.

Title
Artec Spider II: Capture even the smallest objects in three dimensions

Wysiwyg text

The intelligent design and excellent scanning properties of the Artec Spider II make it particularly suitable for capturing small objects.

The objects can be digitally visualized with the Artec Spider II in real time and color.

Title
How the Artec Spider II works

First column

Thanks to its sophisticated design and outstanding scanning capabilities, the Artec Spider II is ideal for the detailed capture of small objects. With the Artec Spider II, these objects can be digitally visualized in real time and color. To capture data from different angles and scan the object completely, the 3D scanner is simply moved around the object. The Artec Spider II can capture up to 30 images per second. The Artec Studio software shows you in real time which areas have already been scanned.

Scanning works in a similar way to a video camera, but instead of two-dimensional images, the scanner creates a three-dimensional image of the object's surface. By aligning and merging several scans, a complete 3D model is created. This model can then be edited using the tools in the Artec Studio software. The model can also be colored with a single mouse click.

How the application works

Like a simple video camera, you can point the Artec Spider II at the object you want to scan. Pressing the trigger button starts the scan; you can now move the scanner around the object at a distance of 19 to 35cm.

Thanks to the software, you can see in real time on the monitor of your laptop which areas have already been scanned and which have not yet been scanned. You can change position at any time to complete the scan.

Title
Simple model creation on the PC

First column

Artec Studio software supports post-processing

For a complete model, you must first align the individual scans. If a part is missing, simply scan it again. To merge the scans, you can align them to a coordinate system or use the software's optimization functions. With the help of Artec Studio, you can smooth the model and adjust the surface. You also have the option of coloring your scanned object.
