Racecar hilft e. V., founded in 2024, emerged from an initiative that was launched 12 years ago. The association consists of a group of friends who have been volunteering for Sonnenstrahl e. V. for several years. Their aim is to provide children with cancer and their families with unforgettable experiences on the racetrack. The members have been volunteering for years and, with a lot of passion and team spirit, set an example of solidarity and joy. This project is impressive proof of the commitment of passion and team spirit for a charitable cause.

Title
A project with heart - The start of a moving journey

First column

It all began in 2016, when Matthias Feist gave a friend a ride in a real Nascar at the Lausitzring in Germany. This small gesture became a defining moment for him – meeting children with cancer changed his view of life and made him realize the importance of every happy moment.

Matthias Feist soon supported the Nascar-hilft project as a mechanic at the race track. When the then founder ended the project in 2023, Matthias Feist and some of the team decided to continue the project. This gave rise to the idea of founding 'Racecar-hilft' to continue to be there for these children and their families from Sonnenstrahl e. V. In 2024, a strong and cohesive unit was formed together with partners such as A Wish Comes True and WieCar-hilft.

Second column

Affected children experience unforgettable moments on the racetrack as co-drivers in real racing cars. Not only do they get to ride along, but they can also lend a hand and change wheels during a pit stop. The racing drivers take time to share and discuss their experiences with the children.

These special hours make the illness fade into the background and bring a smile to their faces. Parents and siblings are also given the opportunity to do a few laps in the race cab and escape the stresses of everyday life for a short time.

This special commitment gives children with cancer valuable moments of distraction and brings joy into their often challenging everyday lives. The conversations with the racing drivers and the team offer additional emotional support and help them to process what they have experienced.

But the initiative goes beyond the moment – it sends a strong signal of solidarity and compassion. It shows that joint commitment can make a significant difference in the lives of those affected and gives hope in difficult times.

Title
The goal of Racecar-hilft: A day without worries

First column

The association always has a clear goal: “We want to give sick children and teenagers, their siblings and parents a day when they can simply feel and enjoy life. That's why we invite them to ride with us in a race cab on racetracks such as the Dekra Lausitzring, which supports our project. The joy in the children's eyes when they arrive and their eyes turn to the cars – that is priceless. For a few hours, they can forget about everyday life and illness.”

The vehicles: Experience power & speed up close

First column

The racing cars used impress with their performance and make the children's eyes light up. The Lexus V8 Star from the V8 Star racing series and the Nissan GTR R35 bring pure racing power to the track with 750 hp. An Audi S1 Rally has been added to the vehicle portfolio since 2025.

Thanks to generous sponsors and donations, some of the high operating costs can be covered – from tires and fuel to necessary repairs. This support makes unforgettable experiences possible for the children.
