Questions on FARO Focus 3D (robustness, target registration, accuracy, re-calibration)

Hey there,

I'm considering to buy a laser scanner and through my research I found some things I want to discuss to clear up my mind about some uncertainties.

Can someone tell me briefly about the advantages of the FARO Focus 3D other than it's price? How about the robustness of the scan unit? Are there other phase type scanners that I should consider, regarding the target registration ease and accurary? I'v read that the FARO Focus is not likely for use in the outside? Is this the truth????

What about the re-calibration issues? The maintenance contracts offered by Leica, FARO and so on seem very one sided and suspicious.

please provide me with all the information you have!

thanks a lot!

Hey Steffen,You can use the

Hey Steffen,

You can use the FARO Focus 3D inside and oustide becaus it is injection and dustproof. The calibration is once a year. From its accuracy its comparable with other scanners. The biggest advantage is in my opinion it's handy size. Regarding the Target, it's also comparable to other solutions. In concern of the maintenance contracts you should contact a FARO Salesman for that. As I know, you get maintenance contracts for 3 years for about 7000 euro
