Reference spheres

Hello LSE team,

Can your reference spheres really be applied to different types of laser scanners? Do reference spheres work in the case of a phase based scanner (such as FARO Focus 3D or ZF imager) exactly as in the case of a TOF scanner (such as Riegl or a scan station)??

Reference spheres

Hello Robert,
The reference spheres from the web shop support every laser scanner. They habe a special coating so that laser beams are reflected optimally and that external influences (such as sunlight) play only a marginal role.

Even in the case of phase based scanners, it is very important since the reflection characteristics of the surface influence the measurement result greatly.

Furthermore, the coating of the carbonic spheres is very resistant. A special paint is used which often withstands collisions and a plunge of the spheres without any problems. The material of the carbonic spheres has very low thermal expansions; thus, the coating is just exposed to low mechanical stress.
