The FARO Photon 80 is a phase-based laser scanner. It captures objects in a range from 0.6 m (23.6 in) to 80 m (3149.6 in).It is characterized by a measuring speed at a maximum of 120.000 measuring points per second in theory. The Photon can be controlled via WLAN by an external laptop as well as directly via a physical cable connection. During stand-alone operation, the captured point clouds are saved on the internal hard disk. When using an external laptop, the point clouds can be saved on an external peripheral, too. The scanner is equipped with a special adapter for attaching a color camera. With the color information, a point cloud can be colored. The power supply is effected by means of an internal battery or an external power source.
