Bentley Systems International announces the release of Descartes V8i (SELECTseries 5). This new release improves the capabilities for point cloud processing and scalable terrain modeling (STM) enormously.
Bentley Descartes V8i (SELECTseries 5) - What's new for point clouds?
- Cylinders can be extracted more quickly.
- A pipe connection tool enables users to build well connected pipe runs with a higher degree of automation.
- Elbows can be built automatically and adjusted dynamically.
- The clash detection module now supports point clouds natively. Thus, users will save the time they would otherwise have spent extracting geometry. Furthermore, team collaboration workflows are supported.
Bentley Descartes V8i (SELECTseries 5) - What's new for scalable terrain models (STM)?
STM is a technology that enables high-performance display of digital terrain models (DTM). Users scan view huge DTMs at geospatial scale.
- Elevation contours can be extracted from the scalable terrain model (STM) for use in MicroStation.
- Linear elements can be draped to the STM surface automatically.
- STM can be exported to Raster DEM for increased interoperability with GIS and civil applications.
