New laser scanners introduced at INTERGEO: FARO Focus3D, Trimble TX8 and Topcon GLS-2000

Dear laser scanning community,

At INTERGEO 2013, a few laser scanner manufactureres have introduced new and improved 3D laser scanners; these include FARO Focus3D X 330, Trimble TX8 and Topcon GLS-2000. Today, we want to give you a short summary of the laser scanners.

FARO Focus3D X 330

FARO Focus3D X 330 is a phase-based scanner that captures objects in a dstance of up to 330 meters. The 3D laser scanner reaches a measuring speed of up to 976,000 points/seond and allows photo-realistic scans due to the integrated camera. FARO Focus3D X 330 gets excellent results even at direct sunlight. It is characterized by laser class 1 and equipped with an integrated GPS receiver. As opposed to the predecessor model FARO Focus3D 120, noise is significantly reduced.

Trimble TX8

Trimble TX8 is a 3D laser scanner (time-of-flight scanning) that scans objects with a measuring speed of up to 1 million points per second. With Trimble TX8, you can capture objects in a distance of up to 340m. The laser scanner doesn't support the creation of colored scans.

Topcon GLS-2000

Topcon GLS-2000 allows scanning in a range of up to 350m. Due to two integrated cameras, GLS-2000 supports photo-realistic scans. At the moment, Topcon GLS-2000 is not available. Further information will follow soon.
