VRML

VRML is a CAD data format which illustrates 3D bodies as triangulated surfaces. Colors and textures are assigned to the surfaces. The triangles are represented in two numbered lists: The coordinates of the triangulation points are shown in the first list; in the second list, a position number – based on the first list – is assigned to the triangles. The geometric element allows the distinction of the inner interior and the exterior. The format VRML avoids redundancy. The formats STL and VRML resemble each other in the duration for the set-up of a virtual model; however, VRML is superior in data transfer and memory requirements. Not all systems generate or import the format VRML perfectly.
