Trimble MX2 is a mobile mapping system manufactured by the company Trimble Navigation Limited. It is available in two configurations: with one laser scanner or with two laser scanners. The laser scanners are an OEM product of the manufacturer MDL. With one laser scanner, Trimble MX2 achieves a maximum measuring speed of 36,000 points/second; with two laser scanners, it achieves up to 72,000 points/second. Trimble MX2 is equipped with a GNSS system and an inertial reference system of Trimble and Applanix for precise positioning. It is characterized by a range of up to 250m (9,842.5 in), a field of view of 360° and laser class 1. Trimble MX2 is operated by means of a laptop. A panoramic camera and a distance measurement indicator (DMI) can be used optionally. The scan system can be installed on any vehicle.
